[EPIC] UX

This EPIC lists all the goals and issues aiming to improve the User eXperience of the DBnomics platform in general.

Goals

  • explain how to consume data
    • via API, from Git repositories or by preparing bulk downloads?
  • let the user create its own collections of datasets/series
    • that would require creating user accounts
    • these collections would be requestable from external services (see #519 (comment 11313))
  • add links from DBnomics website to provider website, to dataset/series page when possible
  • display temporal coverage for each series and dataset (by frequency) (asked by Julia from BdF as user)
  • trigger a fetcher manually (restricting the datasets to process)
  • dimension with 1 value becomes a dataset attribute
  • make json-data repositories the source of truth: store computed data instead of letting the web API compute it dynamically at each request, spend time in jobs rather than in web API requests handlers

Issue

  • #664 Enhance information about fetcher runs
  • #518 Improve full-text search results
  • #522 Allow users to trigger pipelines
  • #545 Produce a "real-time database" per time series
  • #546 Consume data locally
  • #517 Export datasets in popular formats
  • add search box in nav-bar, autocompleted, with scopes (provider, dataset?...)
